I recently started reading Paul Magriel’s classic Backgammon. I had avoid this book because I knew that it was prebot and contained some errors. However I was struggling—even with reading Trice—to put to get clear in my mind some of the guiding principles that were being used to drive plays in various positions. Paul Magriel has sadly died without any cause being specified. Having previously been a Junior Chess Champion, the then youngster began playing Backgammon. Backgammon can be traced back to nearly 5000 years ago which uses dice and disks. The board game is a combination of luck, skill and speed. The late Paul Magriel said this of the board game.

The US had Magrifl Magriel, probably the most publicized pure backgammon player in history. I bought this book for my daughter as it is easy to understand and is perfect for her as a beginner.
I’m thrilled that it is back in print, since the last copy I bought just slightly used for a friend because this was my only choice was rather expensive.
