Exactly one year ago today GoPro announced the Display Mod, as part of the larger Hero 8 suite. At the time, a year before the Hero 9 would come out, it promised a way to see yourself from the front of the camera, aimed somewhat at vloggers, but realistically anyone that just wanted to frame the subject from in front of the camera (which I think is way more people than just vloggers). Your GoPro can easily switch between landscape and portrait shots. It also captures videos and photos the right way up, even if it’s mounted upside down. The touch screen menu will automatically adjust and your media will play back the right way up. Page 9 See your videos and photos in the Media Gallery. Battery Status 7. If your camera displays a:
- Bicycle and a plus sign (+)
- Bandage
- 'REPAIRING FILE' notification
it means that a file may have been corrupted during prior filming or access of the SD card. While the icon is showing on the screen, press ANY BUTTON on the camera, and the camera will repair the file (NOTE: The HERO Session / HERO4 Session will automatically attempt to repair the file, no button press is necessary). While the camera is attempting to recover the file, the icon will blink repeatedly. Once completed, the camera’s screen will revert to the normal file counter display.

Here are some ways you can prevent file corruption in the future:
- Use a known-good SD card. Here’s a link to our SD Card Considerations article.
- Prior to recording new footage (and after saving any wanted previous footage), format the SD card using the camera. Here are links to instructions if you’re not sure how to do that:
- For the HERO3, HERO3+ & HERO4, use the I/O Door to cover the SD card slot when the camera is in use. This will lessen the amount of vibration the card is subjected to.
